Oh Monday, thou art a heartless b*tch….

What is it about Mondays that can bring out the worst in people? I swear my husband and I can only fight on this unholy day of the week. Ha!

Today’s adventure in wife and motherhood…cleaning responsibilities! I find that as a stay at home mom, the cleaning falls MOSTLY on my shoulders. I actually get kind of offended when hubby cleans…like he is saying, “Hey, you aren’t capable of doing your job, let me do it for you!” I don’t think he quite understands why I get so mad every time he does this. The worst part is that I know I am being unreasonable but I just can’t stop the feeling of inadequacy when my husband says the house is a mess. It’s like your boss telling you that you did a terrible job and he/she will just do it for you.

Like many husbands, mine suffers from the inability to see the hamper located 2 inches away from his socks, the toothpaste holder next to the sink, and the stack of his belongings that he needs to put away for himself. Haha…only partly kidding! I don’t know why it seems this way with 98% of husbands. But know yours does not suffer alone! Treatment includes billboards pointing to the nearest clothing hamper 🙂

How about in your household? Do you expect a 50/50 chore list?

Finally, I’ll leave you with something to brighten up your Monday.

Have a good night!

Charity and Volunteering to Travel

So today I’ve been looking at numerous sites to explore all the different options for traveling on a dime. Needless to say, there are SO many worthy causes and ways to see the world. My favorite so far has to be http://www.globaladventurechallenges.com/international/

I’ll give you a second to fall in love with this idea…

Done? Awesome!

I want to do the dog sledding challenge, how about you? I think I will send a message to our local Rotary club and see if they would be interested in raising some money to send me…not to mention the rest of the funds raised can go to ANY charity we choose. If you aren’t familiar with Rotary, they only donate to fundraisers that directly benefit the community. So getting their assistance is no easy task. But enriching your community, traveling for little to no money out of pocket, and testing your physical limits? I think you just defined my existence, Global Adventure Challenges!

If you are interested in other volunteer opportunities, I highly recommend reading this article:

Seriously amazing suggestions. Now you have no excuse, so go see the world!

My first posting!

Hello interwebberz!

This is my first blog, so I’m sure there will be plenty of editing, errors, and overall crappiness for my first few weeks. I am here to share my passion for traveling, motherhood, cooking, and life!

I’ll start with the basics…my name is Ashleigh and I am married to a Coastie! Zach is my wonderful husband and Cassie is our little ball of energy (er, daughter). We live in Washington with Tucker our horse German Shepherd and an itty bitty kitty we like to call Piglet although her name changes often. I am a 21 year old going to school to receive a degree in Hospitality and Tourism and in the meantime, I am going to travel on my own and learn as much as I can from this beautiful planet!

I’ll leave it at that for now!

As my daughter would say, nigh-nigh!
